When it comes to direct sales home parties, one thing that you cannot neglect is making sure that your guests are enjoying themselves. After all, if your party is not enjoyable, it is really just a sales pitch. And people do not get excited about sales pitches. One easy way to inject some fun into your home parties is to play a couple of games. However, there is nothing in the direct sales rule book that says that you can’t have a higher purpose for your games. That is why I like to play booking games. These games are a fun way to get people thinking about booking parties with you, which helps you to get your products and business opportunity in front of people on a regular basis. Below you will find some great booking games that you can play at your upcoming home parties. Booking Game #1: The Dice Game All you need for this game is a pair of dice (if you have any board games at home, you can borrow them from that; if not, you can find them at Walmart) and 11 note cards that you place inside envelopes. Label the envelopes with the numbers 2 through 12. Write a prize on each note card before sticking them in the envelopes. I like to follow this ratio, but it is up to you: 1 ‘Grand Prize’, 4 ‘Win a Prize’, and 6 ‘Book a Party’. Playing the game is simple. Those party guests who want to play simply roll the dice and whatever number they land on, they get that envelope and do whatever is inside. If their card says ‘win a prize’, they get to choose from whichever prizes you have brought. If it says, book a show, they must book one of your open dates for their own party (be sure to tell them about the hostess rewards so that they know that it is a good thing). The person that gets the grand prize wins a prize AND books a show. If they roll a number that has already been picked, they simply roll again. Booking Game #2: The Balloon Game Gather enough balloons for each guest at your party. Before you blow up the balloons, write one prize each on slips of paper. The prizes can be anything that you want – free shipping, a discount, free product, gift certificate, extra hostess reward, etc. Place a prize slip inside each balloon and then inflate them. As each guest arrives, hand them a balloon. Tell them to hold on to it throughout the party and whenever they decide that they want to book a party, they can simply pop the balloon and retrieve their prize. Booking Game #3: Deal or No Deal This is a popular game to play, and really simple. Bring envelopes to the party that have note cards inside. For each one, have a prize written on the card. Each card should either say ‘Book a Party’ or ‘Win a Prize’. Whatever your booking goal is, that is how many ‘Book a Party’ cards you should have filled out, but make sure you have a good number of prize cards mixed in as well. Tell your guests that they can choose an envelope, and whatever is inside the envelope is what they must do. If they do not want to risk it, they can simply say ‘No deal’ and give the card back to you. Be sure to emphasize your hostess rewards so that they view booking a party as a reward in itself. Booking Game #4: The Ribbon Game Tie three pieces of ribbon around your hostess’s wrist and tell everyone at the party that anyone who wants to book a party can take one of the ribbons. If all three ribbons are taken, the hostess gets a free prize. You can sweeten the pot by also offering a reward to anyone who books a party. People are more likely to book a party if doing so means that their friend will get a prize. They may also be more likely to book a party if they know that they could get an extra gift as well. Booking Game #5: Stack the Hostess Gifts Game Gather together the booking gifts that you and your company offers. If your company doesn’t offer something specific, gather together the products that hostesses typically choose for their reward. Also get 4 to 6 envelopes and inside each one write “Good for one half-price prize. At some point during the party, tell your host to come to the front of the room so that you can tell everyone about the awesome benefits of hosting a party. Also let everyone know that you want to show them all of the free and half-price items that they can earn by booking a party. As you talk about each hostess gift, stack them in a pile. At the end of this presentation, tell your guests that they can earn these by booking a party. To sweeten the pot, tell them that they also get to take an envelope in order to receive one item at half off. Ask them to stand up if they would like to book a party. Booking Game #6: The Booking Tree Draw a tree on a poster board. Attach 5 envelopes to the tree in various places. In each envelope, fill out a party date card that includes an available party date and space to fill out the hostess’s name, address, and contact information. On the outside of the envelopes, have a small prize listed. This could be anything that you want: a discount, a free sample, or even something you pick up at the dollar store. Another alternative is to have 5 numbered gift bags with the prizes inside. Tell your guests the dates that you are available and that if they book a party on that date, then the gift attached to that date is theirs to keep. All they have to do is take the date card that they want, fill it out, and bring it to you so that you can give them their hostess packet. Booking Game #7: Chocolate Kiss Game Buy a bag of Hershey’s Kisses and bring it to your party. Tell your guests that they can earn Chocolate Kisses by asking questions throughout your presentation. They get 1 Kiss for questions about products, 2 for questions about hosting a party, and 3 for questions about the business opportunity. Anyone who books a party gets 5 kisses. The person with the most Kisses gets a free prize. Booking Game #8: Purse Game Buy some play money (or borrow some from your Monopoly game if you have it). Tell your party guests to bring out their purses and pull out the following items, giving them $100 in auction money for each one they have:
Stamps – let them know that when they book a party with you, that you will take care of sending out all of the invitations so that they don’t have to. Also give them the chance to earn more money by asking you questions about being a hostess or by booking a party. The person with the most play money will win the grand prize (this can be whatever you want it to be.)
