One important thing to remember out having great home parties is to make it fun. No one wants to come to a home party and then just sit around for an hour while a consultant goes through a product demonstration. They come because they are expecting to enjoy themselves in addition to buying some new products. Give the people what they want by playing a couple of party games. Games are fun for everyone. They can break the ice and make people feel more comfortable. They can be used to plant booking and recruiting seeds. They show your guests how fun it can be to host a party as well as be a consultant. They can even be used to highlight some of your products. Here are a few of the most popular party games. 1. The Yarn Game This is a great icebreaker! At the beginning of your party, tell your guests that you’re going to pass around a spool of yarn and scissors. Tell them to take as much yarn as they think they will need. The natural reaction will be to ask you what they need it for. Just smile and say it is a surprise. It will be humorous to watch them trying to figure out the endgame and how much they should take. Some people will take short pieces while others will take really long pieces. After everyone has gotten a length of yarn, you take some as well and wrap it once around your finger. Tell everyone else that they should do the same. Now for the fun part: they have to talk about themselves for as long as it takes for them to wrap the entire piece of yarn around their finger. You kick it off by telling them about yourself and your business (make sure you took a long piece). It can get pretty funny if some people have taken tons of yarn. 2. Deal or No Deal This is a great game to play to get more parties booked. All you need are envelopes and note cards. In each envelope, have a note card that says either “host a party with me” or a variety of prizes (free gift, discount on their order, coupon, etc). You should have at least one envelope for each person at the party. Tell the guests that they can pick the envelope of their choice. Then they have to decide whether or not they want to open it. If they open it, you both have to honor what is inside. Let them know that there are booking envelopes, prize envelopes, and one grand prize envelope. This is a great way to get more parties scheduled. 3. Interactive Presentation Game This game is a great way to get people to pay attention during your presentation. Before you begin your presentation, tell your guests that you want to keep them on their toes. Teach them up to 5 actions or sounds that they need to act out when you say certain key words. For example:
4. Ask Me About My Job This is a great recruiting game. It gets people thinking about your job and whether it is something that they might consider as a viable income earner for themselves. Have a roll of raffle tickets and tell people that they can earn tickets by asking you about your job as a consultant for your company. They will ask you questions like “How much do you earn?” “How many hours do you work each week?” and “How long have you been doing this?’ Answer their questions in a truthful and positive manner and you may find yourself with potential team members before you leave the party. For each question, give them a raffle ticket and then draw for the prize at the end of the game. An alternative is to allow them to ask questions throughout the evening and draw the prize at the end.
