When you are in the party plan industry, chances are you will hear your upline or the many gurus out there tell you that “bookings are the lifeblood of your business”. And there is definitely truth to this. Parties + Paydays. Though it is definitely possible to build a home-based business online, there is a learning curve to it. A learning curve that not many people will take the time and energy to master. The more straightforward way to build a successful party plan business is to have live home parties. If you are not booking these parties, then it is probably a safe bet that you aren’t getting your products out there in front of your target audience on a consistent basis. Which, in turn, means that you may not (ok, probably don’t) have a great deal of sales or new team members. When you get down to it, in order to have a successful party plan business, you have to have a lot of parties scheduled. Having a lot of parties to go to sounds like fun, but a lot of people aren’t having that much fun in trying to get people to commit to hosting these parties. So what are some great tips that you can implement now in order to get more parties booked as soon as possible? Read on and I will share the ones that have helped me the most. I hope that they help you as well. Tip #1: Swap Parties with Other Consultants If you are active on social media and in the direct sales industry, chances are you know a lot of people who are in other companies. If not, you should definitely start networking – it is a very valuable skill to develop. Get out there and connect with some other consultants and offer to do a party for them if they also book one with you. Doing this is mutually beneficial. Not only will you both be able to earn some free goodies as the hostess, you will also both broaden your network by being able to meet a group of customers that you may not otherwise have had access to. Tip #2: Leave Catalogs in Waiting Rooms Many businesses have waiting rooms and lounges for customers, clients, and employees to lounge around while they wait for their name to be called or for their shift to start. I don’t know about you, but when I am in a waiting room I always look around to see if there is any reading material that I want to peruse. That is the perfect opportunity for you to get your info in other people’s hands. Leave a catalog that has your info on it and a little message letting people know that they can earn some of the products for free by calling you and booking a party. Make sure you do ask permission to leave your catalog as well as pay attention to any signs that forbid soliciting. You wouldn’t want to get in trouble or have the staff throw away your catalog. Tip #3: Get Involved with the Chamber of Commerce Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to find out if they offer welcome baskets to new people in town. If so, ask them if you can have your materials included in the welcome baskets. You can include a nice gift as well as tell them about the benefits of hosting a party. The main benefit for them would be that they would be able to meet people in their new neighborhood or town. You could even help them to find a neutral party venue if they are uncomfortable with having strangers in their home. Tip #4: Set Up Fish Bowls Have you ever gone to a store or restaurant and saw a fish bowl or box along with a sign saying something along the lines of “Enter to Win a Free Gift!” Did you rush over to sign up? Probably so. That is because people love the idea of getting something for nothing. Use this to your advantage. Offer people the chance to win something (it could be a free product, a gift certificate, etc) in exchange for their contact information. Make sure they know that it is for your business. I would even leave some catalogs and business cards for them to take. Also have a spot on the form for them to indicate if they would be interested in earning more freebies by booking a party. Then all you have to do is pick a winner and then follow up with the rest of the entrants with your booking offer. Tip #5: Book Parties at Your Parties If you already have a party booked, be sure to highlight the benefits of booking a party with you (freebies, a few hours of fun, discounts, etc.). Everyone at the party should know about your hostess rewards. Tip #6: Rebook your hostess If your hostess had a great time at her party and got some freebies, chances are she would be willing to do it all over again in the future. Ask her if she would like to book a party for the friends that weren’t able to make it. You can even sweeten the deal by offering her additional gifts. Tip #7: Host Your Own Party If all else fails and you can’t book a party, throw your own. Some consultants even make it a point to host parties at their home on a regular basis. It can be a mystery hostess party (a random guest earns the hostess rewards), a holiday-themed party, a customer/hostess appreciation party, or anything else you can think of.
