Chances are if you have found your way to this page, you already know what a mystery hostess party is. However, I want to first take some time to talk to the people who don’t have a clue what they are. I will discuss the benefits of hosting a mystery hostess party as well as when you should host one. Then I will give you some details on how to throw a successful one. What is a Mystery Hostess Party? A mystery hostess party is when you invite people (including your past and current customers) to your house (or the venue of your choice) for a party and presentation. Although you are technically the hostess, you will select one party guest to be awarded the hostess rewards that you and /or your company typically give to hostesses. You do all of the work and one lucky person at the party reaps the benefits. What are the Benefits of Throwing a Mystery Hostess Party? One benefit for you is that you don’t have to do any travelling and you don’t have to lug around your demo or your inventory. The benefit for your party guests is that they get the chance to reap the rewards of being a hostess without actually having to do the work of the hostess. Many people who may not want to (or have the time to) host a party might be willing to attend a party. Especially if there is a chance that they will still get some free goodies. When Should I Throw a Mystery Hostess Party? I think that there are several occasions where throwing a mystery hostess party makes all of the sense in the world. Here are the ones that come to mind: 1. You don’t have any parties booked. When you don’t have any parties scheduled, then you can always throw your own! 2. When you have new products coming out. It is a great idea to have a party so that you can introduce people to your latest offerings. 3. As a way to thank your past hostesses and guests for supporting your business. I firmly believe that every direct seller should develop a habit of having customer/hostess appreciation parties at least once a year. These parties are a great way to thank your customers for their business and offer them the chance to get some cool prizes without having to do any work. You can even make your mystery hostess party exclusive to past hostesses and customers. That exclusivity may make coming to the party seem even more special and exciting. How Do I Throw a Mystery Hostess Party? Your mystery hostess party can be run very similarly to a traditional party with you serving as the hostess. This means that you need to reach out to potential guests and invite them, play games once they get there, do your product demonstration, and collect orders. The main difference would be that any and all hostess rewards would be given out to someone that is in attendance. However, there are some ideas that you can implement to make these mystery hostess parties stand out: 1. Skip the full demo. Since you will likely be inviting past guests and hostesses, they already know what you have to offer. So there is not real need to do a full demonstration. This party can focus more on having fun and getting to know your customers. Of course, if you have new products, you should definitely showcase those. However, you don’t have to rehash all of the other things that they already know about. 2. You could also have the party be open house style, where people can come in, check out your display, and ask questions about anything that catches their eye. 3. Have a raffle to choose the winner. You can give out tickets for certain things in order to choose the mystery hostess. For example, you can give out tickets for arriving on time, bringing a guest, placing an order, booking a party, and a variety of other actions. Then place all of the tickets people have earned into a bowl and pick the lucky winner. 4. If your hostess rewards program is expansive, you could even split the hostess rewards between two or more people to give people an even greater chance to win. Have you ever had a mystery hostess party before? How did it go?
